Summer Stars Reading Programme - Arklow Library

Dear Parents,
The Summer Stars Reading Adventure is back and running until 31st August 2021 in all public libraries across Ireland. Children are invited to register for Summer Stars in Arklow Library and be a part of the reading adventure.

The aim of Summer Stars is to encourage children to continue reading during the summer months. There is a lot of research which shows that children who read over the summer maintain their reading levels and return to school more prepared for the new school year.

Reading Cards: All participants will be given a Summer Stars Reading Card to record and track their own progress. They will receive a Summer Stars sticker for each book read, in print or online. There will be rewards along the way and a certificate at the end for all participants.

Online Summer Stars Book Collection: If digital reading is your thing, the BorrowBox Summer Stars eBook and eAudiobook collections are now available. Borrowbox is free to all library members.

Short Story Competition: The Summer Stars National Short Story competition is also back with the theme: "Of all the places in the world, I never thought I would be here..." There are three categories: age 6-9, age 10-14, age 15-18. Prizes include tablets and €50 vouchers. All entries must be submitted in digital copy to summerstarsstory@lgma.ie by 5pm on Tuesday 31st August.
