Uniforms

As the warmer weather has arrived (for however long!) I would like to remind parents of the uniform policy during this time. Pupils are allowed to wear plain navy shorts as part of their uniform. Sports shorts of any other colour, with writing or bright colours are not permitted as part of the pupils uniforms. I would also like to remind parents that pupils are to wear plain white, black or dark coloured shoes/runners as part of their uniform.  Finally will all parents/guardians ensure that all coats, jumpers etc have your child's name on it.

We wish to ensure that all pupils look well presented and ready for learning each day, while also remaining comfortable during the hot days.

New Appointment!

Some very positive news was received from the Department in the form of confirmation that Scoil San Eoin will have another teacher beginning in September 2017!!. This new appointment has come about due to the increasing numbers in the school. A huge thank you to all who worked very hard to bring this about,  through positive promotion of the school, petitions, and all matter of other ways. Our quest to gain another teacher has been a long process but we persevered, knowing that this will be a huge benefit to the staff and pupils, with much smaller class sizes and another teacher on board who will bring their interests, skills and knowledge to the school. It is also another way to ensure that this small school, which is so important to the community, will continue to develop and flourish.

Annual Open Day and Junior Entrepreneur Showcase Day!!

Our annual Open Day is on this Saturday April 1st from 12-2pm. All are welcome!

As usual the pupils will be showing samples of the great work that they have done and are in the process of doing at the moment. It is also an opportunity for new Junior Infant parents and prospective parents and pupils to come and familiarise themselves with the school.

This year the Open Day also doubles as the Junior Entrepreneur Showcase Day for the senior class. They will be displaying the fruits of all their hard work and of course the Canny Cans and Postcards will go on sale!

Come and pick up a local postcard or recycled organiser and support the senior pupils, our future entrepreneurs!!

Coding and IT Classes

Coding and IT classes finished today with Ciaran having spent 6 weeks teaching the pupils some great new skills.  The classes have been a fantastic success, giving the pupils a great grounding in general IT skills, coding and building games.  We would like to say a very big thank you to the Parents Association who funded the classes through fundraising, avoiding any further costs on parents.

Spring Time has arrived in SSE.....

Scoil San Eoin children have been very busy planting for this season with flowering plants, sowing onions, garlic and much much more in our garden beds. We look forward to seeing the growth and development. We will observe,  document, record and enjoy the beautiful growth in our school garden.

Seachtain na Gaeilge:

Comhghairdeas (Congratulations) to the paiste ( children ) in the junior room for making a massive effort to "ag spreagagh as Gaeilge i rith an lae".............this year we decided to hold a competition to entice paiste to speak Gaeilge through out the day for a week , so here is a pictiúr of the paiste who received a certicate (Teastas na Gaeilge) for their best efforts! Also, Rang a Dó sung the Amhran na bhfiann with the Senior Room, video to follow soon. This year our class learnt Seanfhocal mar shampla; There is no place like no home (Níl aon tinteán mar do thinteán féin) and A good start is half the work (Tús maith leath na hoibre) Equally all the children in Scoil San Eoin learnt the words and actions to the Haka Gaeilge a dance similar to the All Blacks. Watch this space for a videoto follow.

Literacy: The Ginger Bread Man

Infants have been listening, exploring, learning character profile, sequencing of events of the Ginger Bread Man story. The infants thoroughly enjoyed in colouring, cutting & gluing their characters of the Ginger Bread Man onto Lollipop sticks so they can reenact the story by using the characters from the story. The children took time out of their break to finish this lesson because they had the determination and stamina to fulfill this but equally the end product gave a personal satisfaction to all pupils.  Similarly the pupils took great enjoyment in bringing them home to share with all.

Radio Superstars!!

Four pupils from the Senior Class were guests on Declan Meehan's show on East Coast FM today. They were speaking about the Junior Entrepreneur Programme and the business idea that they have come up with.  All pupils did a great job and represented the school very well. What a great experience for them and we are all very proud that our school was chosen from all the schools in Wicklow to speak about JEP this year.   Below is the audio from the show.  Enjoy!
