Our 6 week programme of IT Classes started on the 1st February and is now in the 2nd Phase. Our new computers that were sourced from our fundraising are being put to great use.
So far Ciaran is so impressed with all the pupils and has had to amend his lesson plans to a more challenging standard as the pupils in each class are doing so well.
Ms Nuzum's 1st class are currently covering microsoft word and our 2nd/3rd Class have progressed on to powerpoint.
Ms Fitzgerald pupils are currently learning how to design a website. The website is called 'The Monk Diamond''.
The programme is a big success and the children and really enjoying learning so much. We can definitely see the benefit for the future.
We had our Peace Proms concert on Sat 03.02.2018. It was a wonderful evening and an experience the teachers and pupils won't forget.
An update from Ms. Greene on our blue token fund in Tesco Wicklow which appears to be doing well. If you have any family, friends or work collegeues who shop in Tesco Wicklow please ask them if they are passing to give it their support.
Every little helps!!!!
Thank You
The food bank appeal is working well - An update from the commitee - The first box of food etc went into Wicklow’s Helping the homeless and the second is going down to Susan and Rowley who work with homelessness and people in need in Arklow and surrounding areas.
Well done to everyone involved for helping with such a great cause!
Dear school ,
my name is Philip Hamilton and I am an academy coach with the wdsl (Wicklow district schoolboys/girls league ) . We in the league oversee all underage soccer played in the county , as part of our continued development we have started an all girls academy at under 10 - under 12 & under 14 . Girls soccer is the fastest growing sport in Ireland at the moment and we would like to offer all girls in Wicklow the opportunity to come to our next open training session in east Glendalough school Wicklow town this Sunday feb 11th from 4.30 pm to 6pm .
This is a great opportunity for girls who are either currently playing soccer or those who wish to start and get coached by our group of qualified - garda vetted coaches .
I would be very grateful if you could pass this information on to all the girls in your school and help them take the first step to possibly becoming the next Stephanie Roche !! Should you have any queries relating to our girls academy or if you would like to enquire into coaching sessions in your school please do not hesitate to get in touch ,
kind regards
Philip Hamilton

Today's Grandparents day was a great success and we had a brilliant turnout, thank you to all the Grandparents that visited us.
To start the day all the grandparents were given nametags and divided into 2 groups for a question/answer session.
Our junior room read a lovely poem.
Our senior room are currently exploring the 1950/1960s period and this was spoke about. The grandparents gave examples of their first jobs, what fashion was like and what games & toys were around for them in that era. It gave the children a great insight into what life was like back then towards now.
We had tea/ coffee and refreshments which were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Rotation stations were set up with the children demonstrating Maths/Games/Arts & Crafts/IT & jigsaws - The grandparents were able to view all of this happening and speak with the children as they went along.
A special thanks to Tess Kenny who took the time to showcase her craftsmanship of knitting/sowing and crocheting - Everyone enjoyed this part of the day.
And finally a huge thanks to our Parent Reps who set up, helped out all morning and then cleaned up after everyone had left.
The day was a great success and a special Homework pass was given by the teachers for all the good behaviour!
Please see attached an appeal by the local community for the attached items.
Any items can be left at the school or with parent reps
See attached a link for the BBKR Community Games Provisional Calendar of Events for 2018
Please also see attached link for the registration form which must be completed to take part.
All activities are open to children living in the Barndarrig, Brittas Bay, Kilbride and Redcross Areas.
January saw the exciting arrival of some new pe equipment in the school. Look how we have been making great use of it already.
Please click on the attached link for the logistics plan issued by the Peace Proms team which details information. Especially note the arena layout map - This details where our colour block of choir seating is and also a choir assembly point (Drop off and pick up point for parents)
The plan also details helpful information on:

Note:Please advise a Class Rep or Mary in the office of names of people that may be attending as a guide for numbers for the day. A document is available in the school office for reps to write any names on - Thank You
A full printed list is also available on the parents notice board outside the school gate.
Could all parents review this list and if there child/ren have any of the books listed, please return to Michelle Redmond or to the school office as soon as possible?

We would like to remind parents that access to the school via the back door before and during school is not permitted for health and safety reasons. This door is for pupils and staff members only. All parents and visitors to school must buzz either the office or a classroom, at the front door. We would also like to remind parents/guardians to check whether the issues they bring to the class teachers attention before school may be written on a note or email. If parents/guardians have an issue that they need to speak to the class teacher about, they should make an appointment via email or through Mary in the office.
We would like to reiterate that morning time is a valuable time for staff members to get ready for the day ahead either by gathering resources etc or discussing issues with other staff members. We ask that parents/guardians are respectful of the points above and are mindful of the impact disruptions, and visitors in the school building during these times, have on the pupils day and also their health and safety.
We thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Any enteries for the Arklow Music Festival must be in by the 16th Jan. Any parent who wishes to enter their child/children can contact Mary in the office at the school for details.
Our peace proms rehearsal is taking place on Thurs 11th Jan. The fee of €10 for the bus needs to be into school by Weds 10th Jan.
Payment can be made through school bank or online through E- payments system also.
The rehearsal will be taking place during school hours so collection time will be the same as always for all pupils.
Santa came early to Scoil San Eoin, with the delivery of a gorgeous handmade buddy bench from Billy Russel (Granddad to David and Jack Browne). It was a lovely surprise for the pupils, and will be something which will encourage the pupils to check on each other to make sure everyone has someone to talk to and is feeling alright, and also make sure that no one is upset or alone during break times. We're sure this bench will hold plenty of interesting conversations during its time in Scoil San Eoin! Thanks again Billy for sharing your talent and craftsmenship and your generosity to the pupils.
The school will be attending a rehearsal for the Peace Proms on 11/01/2018 in Blanchardstown.
The cost of the bus will be €10 per child and the money will be due before Weds 10/01/2018.
Another bus has also been booked by the school for the Peace Proms concert on Sat 03/02/2018.
We need to be there a few hours before for rehearsals etc.
Again the same cost applies and bus will be there after the performance to bring all the children home.
Times and further information will follow after Christmas.
