This email contains some important information about Science Club this term, (Class Times, Science Club Collection/Meet Up, Science Teachers and Contact Info, Club Dates and other important information.)
Class Times:
Junior - Senior Infants: 14.00 -14.501st - 6th Class: 15.00 -16.00
The Science Teachers:
The science teacher will be Christine Campbell. Should you wish to contact her at any stage you can email: christine@anyone4science.com or you can phone us at the office on 040440563.
Science Club Dates:Science club this term is 3 weeks long and the dates are as follows:
June 6th, 13th, 20th
Science Snacks:
We have found that in all our afterschool clubs the children are often hungry after school and find it hard to concentrate. We recommend that everyone brings a science snack to eat at the beginning of science club while the teacher is introducing the science experiment.
Science Coats and Safety Glasses:
Sometimes our experiments can be a little bit messy in Science Club. To protect everyone's clothes and school uniforms we recommend that every scientist brings in an old large t-shirt that they can pull on over the clothes that they are wearing. Alternatively, if you wish, you can buy a children size science lab coat from us for a cost of €20. Similarly we recommend that safety glasses are worn while carrying out the experiments. If you have safety glasses at home, please bring them along, alternatively you can purchase safety glasses from us for €5. Please contact us if you would like to place an order for either a lab coat or safety glasses. If you have already placed an order it will be handed out on the first day of Science Club.
Parents Page:
We are delighted to announce that we have a "Parents Page" on our website. On here you will find a short blog about each experiment explaining what the class got up to in science club, what they learnt, discovered and even a few photos and videos of their experiments! There are some experiment procedures so that you can try out the experiments together at home! The page is password protected and the code to log in is "Autumn18" (the "A" is uppercase) - https://anyone4science.com/parents-page/
We are all looking forward to an exciting term of science!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us, we would be delighted to help. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 6th.
All the best,
Niamh Kelly Senior Science Outreach Executive0404-40563

Teaching children the four FUNdamental cycling skills of Balance, Pedalling, Braking and Cornering
Providing a strong cycling skill foundation for young riders.
Skill development, including general cycling skills which will lay the foundation for more advanced learning of specific cycling skills in the future.
Fostering enjoyment and “want” of participation
Teaching rider’s fair-play and rules at their level, rather than promoting a win at all cost attitude
All courses are delivered by Cycling Ireland certified and Garda Vetted instructors.
At the end of the course, each trainee will receive a certificate of completion.
N.B
If your child owns their own bike and helmet, they have the option of bringing them to school for the duration of the course. All bikes will be stored in shelter which will be secure or pupils can bring bikes home after each course. This is at the discretion of parent/guardians.

Anyone4Science Workshops
Dear Parent/Guardian,
See below information sent in relation to the possibility of running an after school science club at Scoil San Eoin.
Anyone 4 Science is an educational organisation providing fun hands-on science and engineering activities for primary school children. We visit schools for demonstration lectures and hands-on workshops, run camps and workshops during the school holidays, entertain children at birthday parties and run after school clubs.
We run clubs in lots of schools in the area including almost all the schools in Wicklow Town, Nuns Cross, Roundwood, Newtown Mount Kennedy, Greystones and a number of Bray schools.
We would propose to start a Junior club (2.00pm - 2.50pm) and a Senior club (3.00pm-4.00pm) at Scoil San Eoin, Redcross.
For the content we take subjects traditionally studied at third level and design age appropriate hands-on experiments around these topics. The children all do a hands-on activity each week.
We would aim to have 20 kids signed either in 2 clubs (juniors and senior club) or in 1 club (senior club).
We could run 4 weeks of taster classes before the end of the school term either on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. The cost for 4 classes would be €34.
If you would be interested in trying the taster classes for your child/children, please contact the school office or complete forms sent home with children.
Thank You

As part of this we have arranged lots of activities for the children to take part in.
Weds 08th May - Clara Jenkinson will be here to do tug of war and boxercise.
Thurs 09th May - The children will be doing dance classes with Laura Gannon where they will be listening to music, dancing and the older pupils will be learning a dance routine.
