Something Fishy Programme for the Senior room!

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Our senior room pupils will be taking part in the ‘Something Fishy’ Educational Programme aimed at Primary school pupils aged between 10-13 years, which informs and educates students on fish, water, angling, and the environment and angling.

Lessons will begin with Ms Greene from next week w/c 27th February and we will have a visit to the school from the programme co-ordinator on 9th March.

After Easter there will be a class trip to Avonmore River planned but details for this will be released to parents nearer the time.

We are really looking forward to taking part in this interesting programme and it will be something new and exciting for the pupils to take part in.

Our senior room have been very busy makin bird feeders out of recycled milk cartons with Ms Hedderman to look after our birds. They have made them look very stylish and inviting for our bird visitors.

These will be placed around the school grounds very soon with lots more exciting changes coming in the pipeline!

3rd/4th Class GAA Blitz 08th November

Pupils from the 3rd/4th class got to take part in a Cumann na mBunscoil GAA blitz in Aughrim on Friday 08th Nov. They had a brilliant day and done the school so proud. It was so great that they got to take part and was a new experience for some of our pupils who hadn’t previously played.

Thank you to Cleo, Doloras and Mandie for taking the time to volunteer to drive the pupils to the blitz and provide supervison while they were there as without them, pupils would not have been able to take part.

Well done to all the boys and girls in 3rd/4th class!

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the program each week and the children are now armed with knowledge and skills on cycling.

Maths Week in the Senior Room

Our 2016 Maths Week was so much fun. We did lots of interesting activities such as target boards, puzzles, cipher wheels, graphs, shape puzzles and had a look at how maths is used in magic! The highlight of the week was our fun day on Thursday. We completed three stations- Maths Trail down the village, maths games online and a school data survey for our graphs, and more fun puzzles and games. Thanks to Ms Griffiths and the parent volunteers for all their help!
