GRANDPARENTS DAY 1.jpg

A huge thank you to all grandparents and parents who attended Grandparents Day in the school. The pupils loved having you in the school and spending time with you. Thank you also to the Parents Reps who provided teas, coffees and treats on the day. The pupils were delighted to show off some of the games they play in school, at home, and as part of their lessons . The very active and fun loving grandparents in the senior room took part in the 10@10 exercises showing the pupils that exercise is for any age!!. The grandparents also answered questions on their childhood and school days and some brought in mementos from that time to show to pupils. All grandparents , including those who could not attend, received a certificate and card from their grandchild outlining what they loved about them.

It was a very enjoyable day and it was clear from the cards and art activities that the pupils created and wrote, that their Grandparents are a much loved and important part of their lives.

Senior room pupils taking on Chess Lessons!

Our pupils from the Senior room are taking part in a 6 week course of Chess lessons with chess coach Seamus Duffy. There will be a chess tournament at the end called ‘Ficheal’ so pupils are very eager to learn and enjoying taking part.

Chess has so many educational benefits for the children - It helps to develop children’s critical thinking and reasoning, encourages them to plan ahead and teaches them that their actions have consequences. It also encourages problem-solving, sportsmanship and self-esteem, often allowing quieter children to shine and is great for concentration and patience.

SCHOOL FUNDRAISER.jpg

A bagpack fundraiser has been booked to be held @ Dunnes Stores, Bridgewater Shopping Centre Arklow on Friday 20th & Sat 21st March in aid of Scoil San Eoin.

We need to try to fill as many time slots as we can for both days to ensure we have a good presence on the day. We are asking parents/guardians and family members to help out and volunteer whatever time you have available to help us raise some much needed funds for the school.

There will be a form in the office of the school which you can detail you name and chosen day/time slot that you are available for or alternatively you can contact a parent rep.

We would really appreciate your help on the day to raise some much needed funds for the school.

Thank You

10@10 Whole School Challenge

All pupils are going to be taking part in the 10@10 challenge for the next few weeks. This is to encourage all pupils to get active while having fun for 10 minutes, every morning at 10 o’clock and to show them how a little exercise every day can make a big difference!

Exercises can be done in the classroom so it doesn’t matter what the weather’s like outside.

We are encouraging all parents/guardians to also take part at home when they can.

Keep an eye on our website for the next few weeks for our fun videos.

Grandparents Day - Thursday 30th Jan @ 11am

We are holding Grandparents Day again this year and inviting all Grandparents to visit the children and Scoil San Eoin on Thursday 30th Jan from 11am.

Grandparents will get to answer informal questions from the children about themselves and their lives growing up. Its gives the children a great insight into life then compared to now and they also love the chance to show their grandparents where they go to school and their classroom.

If possible we would ask all grandparents if they could to bring in photos/games or memorabilia from the past to share with the children.

There will be some light refreshments after for everyone to enjoy.

We are encouraging all grandparents to attend if possible and everyone is welcome.

Please spread the word.

Thank You
