We have just received notification from the Texas Art Competition ran recently that our pupil Cian Jones in 5th class has been awarded a Certificate of Commendation for his entry.

There were 20,000 entries for this competition and to be picked out of this is a huge achievement.

We would like to say a very big Congratulations and well done to Cian Jones on a great achievement.

Annual Sports Day Term 21/22

We had our annual sports day at Scoil San Eoin on Tues 21st June. The weather was absolutely glorious from start to finish and their was great excitement in the air with all the children.

The day started with a fun swim at Coral Leisure Centre Arklow where the children got to play on the centers obstacle course. We then returned to the school by bus and had some much needed food to keep us going.

The pupils were all divided into different teams and took part in lots of games and different activities with all the stations set up for the day. The children completed everything with great enthusiasm and all done brilliantly for their respective teams.

Overall it was a fantastic day and a great end to a great year at Scoil San Eoin for all the children.

Our raffle was held for lines sold as part of our end of year fundraiser and there was great excitement as there were some excellent prizes up for grabs!!! Well done to all our winners and thank you to all our parents/pupils/ their families and community members for your support in making our fundraiser such a successful one.

We had a Bric or Brak stall set up with donations received for our car boot sale and the children and parents could buy whatever items they wished on the day..

Thank you to all our parent reps and parents who helped out and came on the day.

Wishing you all a very safe, healthy and happy Summer and we will see you all on August 29th for another year!

Scoil San Eoin School Garden

Developing our school garden has been something we have been trying to do over the years, but it is safe to say that it is officially up and running this year. Since the beginning of the year, we have assigned garden areas and made them ready for planting , purchased and set up a poly tunnel, created eco friendly raised beds and a beautiful sensory garden and path. This has been a huge undertaking, and would not have been possible without the vision and creativity of Melanie, who was a new parent into the school and was willing to give her time and expertise, to establishing the garden. This has been a huge commitment for Melanie, who has given alot of time and energy into designing and creating the various areas, and in physically planting, tending to and watering the plants and flowers. She has had some fantastic help from Thomas and Fiach who were on hand to put up fencing, create paths, source supplies and generally work hard to make sure Melanie’s visions came to life. We really appreciate all of the time and effort they all have put into getting the garden to what it is now, which is certainly a garden to be proud of.

Next year we hope to develop the garden further and create more areas. We will also be hoping to set up an honesty box and ensure that the products of all the hard work are used by the families in the school and the community in general. We might even get some feathered pupils moving in! Our wish for next year is that more parents get involved in the ongoing maintenance aswell as bringing any other ideas to the table for future developments. Certainly the pupils and teachers will be spending time getting honing their green fingers!

A very successful Car Boot Sale Fundraiser!!

Our Car Boot Sale fundraiser was held on Sat 11th June. As always our fantastic school community got behind us and there were huge amounts of items donated which were used to sell at the sale. We had a bake sale on the day and there were lots of yummy treats to purchase. Our parent reps also did a kids prizes table where the children could play and win.

There was a huge amount of support from our parents who attended on the day and also the local community.

The fundraiser was a great success and we raised much needed funds for the school. The final figure will follow after all raffle cards are returned.

Raffle cards for our upcoming fundraiser raffle were all due back on Thurs 16th June and our raffle will be held at the school on Monday 20th June.

A massive thank you to our parent reps (Kim, Cleo, Audrey and Cheryl) who organized the fundraiser and were there on Saturday ensuring that the day was a successful one. There was a lot of work involved in the run up to it, in organising and sorting the items, visiting businesses and using their charm to get some fantastic prizes and donations, and in getting all the items to Jack Whites on the day. We realise the time that was sacrificed for all of this, both during the week and at the weekend, and we really appreciate it. Parents giving their time and energy like this, shows what fantastic community spirit there is in the school and we would not be able to ensure the school keeps thriving and the pupils have all of the lovely resources and amenities they need without it.

Thank you to all the parents who have donated items for the sale, given in a raffle prize or baked for the cake sale.

Well done to everyone involved!!

Senior Room Tour 2022

A fantastic day was had by all the senior room gang on their Alive Outside School Tour in Kilruddery Estate in Bray. The pupils got to undertake 2 land and 2 water activities throughout the day. The weather played ball and the sun was shining!

First up was some bush crafting where the pupils constructed an outdoor structure and made it comfortable and cosy. They had to work as teams and they could only use what nature provided around them. They built some fantastic structures and they were very handy when it came to eating their morning snack!

Next they all complete a portion of the Hell and Back/ Irelands Fittest Family course where they were put through their paces, and may have gotten just a little muddy (see pics!). All the pupils showed great team spirit as they encouraged each other through the obstacle course.

Following that, they took to the water in kayaks and had some fun on the lake…Some taking the leisurely approach and some giving the O’Donovan brothers a run for their money in the races!!

Final they got to experience more of Irelands Fittest family as they squealed their way down the fast paced slide or jumped off the platform into the lake. They finished the day with a well earned lunch and goody bag (provided by the company). Needless to say, it was a quiet bus journey back to school as both teachers and pupils took a badly needed rest!!

As always the pupil were impeccably well behaved and were highly complimented by the instructors. We were so proud of all the pupils who had a brilliant attitude to the activities and everyone gave something a go, some pupils overcoming fears along the way. I can safely say it was a school tour to remember!

Junior Room School Tour Adventures @ Blackwater Open Farm!!

Our Junior Room School Tour this year was in the gorgeas Blackwater Open Farm in Wexford. The children were very lucky to have gotten such a beautiful day to head off on their adventure.

When everyone arrived to Blackwater Open Farm, we were given our very own Tour guide called Liam who brought us to visit all the beautiful animals. Liam gave us all a brief history about the background of each animal and what they like and dislike. The children really enjoyed feeding the animals and were very lucky that they got to spend some time petting each of them.

Afterwards, the boys and girls got to sit down and handle little bunnies and hamsters which they loved doing.

We had some were very brave children on the day who let a bird perch on their heads!

The children got to see a visual display which showed the step by step process to hatching chicks and which everyone found super interesting!

They also got to meet Jessie, the milking cow and they all got to have turns milking the cow.

Lunch was yummy on the day and was enjoyed in the glorious sunshine with the children gettting to enjoy their chocolate treat afterwards.

After lunch there was lots of adventure and the children got to play on the indoor tractor track, Wendy house, Pedal go-karting, climbing frames, zip-line and playground and plenty of tired little children afterwards!!

They all had a fantastic day and were so well behaved. Overall a brilliant way to end the school year.

Special mention to Cheryl who went along on the day to help Ms Nuzum out. Thank you.

Upcoming Car Boot Sale

Dear Parents/Guardians/ Family and community members!!

As you know we are planning on taking a pitch at the car boot sale in Jack Whites on June 11th. It has been decided that we would have a baked goods table, a kids fun/raffle table with prizes, a bric a brac table and to also sell lines  for a main raffle.

It would be great to see as many parents involved for our final fundraiser of the year. We would appreciate your help in whatever capacity you can.

Here's what we will need parents help with:

  • Gathering unwanted, but good quality items from your home and dropping them to the school. These will be used either for sale on the bric or brac table, or for the kids raffle prizes

  • Gathering/ contributing raffle prizes for the main raffle...the parents reps have done a great job so far but still lots needed. The more prizes, the more tickets we will sell.....you all know someone that will give something!

  • Helping your child to sell as many lines for the raffle (cards to go home next week)..as usual we ask that children, if possible ask people outside the home, rather than poor Mum and Dad again!!

  • Dusting off the recipe book and baking something for the baked goods table.

  • Helping to go through the bric a brac items the week before to organise and sort. Price items etc.

  • Helping to transport the items to Jack Whites that morning and set up the stalls

  • Contribute anything needed for set up - tables, little gazebo etc.

  • Man the stall on the day - this will only be for a couple of hours.

As you know we have not had our usual influx of fundraising money over the last few years and unfortunately the balance is diminishing due to this. The better success we can make of our fundraising initiatives this year and next year the more beneficial it will be to parents (keeping costs down) and pupils (allowing us to pay for intra curricular activities and workshops as well as school resources e.g. playground and garden this year.

If you are willing to help out with any of the above, fundraiser or garden, or have any further fundraising ideas for next year,  please email school office or contact Linda or a parents rep.

Please let family members and friends know about our event and lets try make this the most successful one yet!!

Our fabulous school garden & a callout for volunteers!!

A sneek preview of our fabulous school garden which is thriving and flourishing thanks to the hard work of Melanie, Fiach and Thomas.

This year the main objective was to get the garden physically set up and running,  therefore our first year will not yield a huge amount of produce but next year it will be all systems go!

We need volunteers to help out with watering the plants during the summer months when Fiach/Melanie are not here so please if you are willing to help out please contact the school office to let us know.

Our children are incredibly lucky to have this in their school garden and to get to learn so much, so thank you to Melanie, Fiach and Thomas as it would not be possible without them.

Rugby Blitz - Senior Room

Our Senior Room travelled to Arklow Rugby Club on Thurs 05th May for a Rugby Blitz with Barney. Everyone participated and our team done really well on the day.

Were super proud of everyone and you can really see the improvement year on year with our pupils at these Blitz’s.

Thank you to all our parents who transported the pupils and supervised on the day. These events would not go ahead without your help.

Well done everyone.

Car Boot Sale - In aid of Scoil San Eoin

We will be running a car boot sale at Jack Whites Inn on Sat 11th June to raise much needed funds for the school.

We are asking families if they can donate items listed on the below poster. If you are available on the day to help out please contact a parent rep.

Parents/family/community members can drop off the items from the list to the school from Monday 16th May - Weds 8th June)

With the recent rise in school trip prices and transport, it is more important than ever to ensure that we can try to supplement the cost for parents/guardians to alleviate them of any financial pressure while ensuring that the children still get to enjoy their trips and events that we have always done so well at Scoil San Eoin. We also have lots of exciting plans for the school and school grounds which we need to raise funds for.

With covid and school closures we have been unable to organize any planned fundraising events for the past 2 years as it wasn’t safe to do so. We can now finally prepare and plan for events and it is important that we do so.

.We are asking parents/grandparents/family and friends to please support our fundraiser and attend the car boot sale on 11th June or if you cannot be there on the day to try and donate some items.

Please spread the word to ensure that we have a successful fundraiser for Scoil San Eoin

Thank You
